STOF

Jan 1970 - Founding of the production- and trading-company ZABETT in Herning, by Ole Schmidt.

1974 - The company expands and moves to a larger location in Herning

1980 - Expansion. On top of the wholesale business in fabrics and clothing, retailing is added. More space is needed and the company moves to Bryggergade. The company name changes from ZABETT to STOF A/S

1987 - The company grows again. New buildings on Orebygårdvej are purchased. Fabric shops open in Aarhus and Aalborg.

Ab 1987 - STOF A/S decides to concentrate on wholesale of fabrics only.

1988 - With the beginning of the patchwork era come the first business connections to America. The number of employees grows. The sales representatives now cover all of Scandinavia and from 1992 they are also well on the way in Germany.

2004 - The company moves to Hammershusvej 2C in Herning. STOF A/S starts producing their own collections. An in-house design department is born under the leadership of Monika Sassenberg. From this year on, fabrics, “designed by STOF” are sold everywhere. More new employees and all of Europe is now covered by sales representatives. Morten Fredsbo becomes a partner in STOF A/S.

2013 - With the purchase of Hammershusvej 2B, the design department grows. The STOF collections are an increasing part of the total collections sold.

2014 - René Lohmann becomes a partner in STOF A/S. The company changes. The yearlong specialist in patchwork fabrics expands the range. From now on, some fabrics are also available in extra wide, primarily intended for interior and clothing.

2015 - STOF A/S re-designs their corporate identity. The company now sells own designs under the label - stoffabrics -. Paired with the slogan “WeLoveFabrics”, the new designs are accompanied by a new look and a clear message.
